3-breath, 5-breath, and 7-breath pattern

The child swims 25 meters freestyle, breathing only every third arm stroke. The breathing side alternates regularly, and exhalation is done entirely underwater. Emphasize that the child should exhale a significant portion of their air with each arm stroke, allowing them to fully fill their lungs with fresh, oxygen-rich air during the next breath. If the 3-breath pattern works well, they can attempt a 5-breath or 7-breath pattern. This exercise trains rhythm, proper exhalation, and increases cardiovascular endurance by reducing the air supply. However, it may take some time before these effects become noticeable.
