From what age should children learn to swim?
Learning to swim is one of the most coordinatively demanding tasks for children — which is why starting at 3 or 4 often makes the most sense. Those who want to start earlier can begin infant swimming from as early as 4 months.
Why should children learn to swim?
Water safety is the most important reason. Outdoor pool, sea or lake — water is everywhere. We want children to feel safe in it. On top of that, swimming strengthens coordination, strength and health.
What should you keep in mind?
Find out about the local pool rules before swimming. Always keep an eye on your children and watch out for hypothermia.
Just as important: patience. Every child learns at their own pace — and gets there. Swimming without pressure is simply more fun and more rewarding.
