Open Turn
In this video we show you how to easily learn the open turn. You will find numerous preparatory exercises for learning the open turn as well as common mistakes.
Preparation Exercises

Touch at the Pool Wall
The child swims breaststroke to the wall and touches the edge of the pool with both hands at the same time. Then it draws its legs up, slowly at first and faster later, and tips to the side at the same time. This exercise trains the start of the tumble-style breaststroke turn in isolation. The synchronous touch is efficient and complies with the rules in competitive breaststroke.

Streamline Glide
The child pushes off the pool wall with both feet and stays in a stretched position. The hands rest one on top of the other, the legs stay still. This position is held for at least 5 seconds, with the aim of gliding as far as possible.

Push-off in side position
The child holds onto the pool edge in a side-lying position and pushes off, also on their side. During the glide phase, they rotate the upper body into a prone position and begin the breaststroke at the water surface. This exercise specifically trains the rotation from the side position into the prone position.
