15 meters with arms crossed
The child is challenged to swim fifteen meters with their arms crossed, with all the power coming from their legs. To make the exercise more difficult, you can tell the child that they are not allowed to swim on their back. This exercise is mainly a safety measure. It is important to learn to move in the water with limited use of the limbs, for example due to a cramp. This enables the child to rescue themselves to the edge of the pool in an emergency or even to cover a distance with this handicap. In addition, the exercise helps children to find their way in this new situation, adjust their position in the water and find ways to move forward. This promotes a better understanding of the water, which is an advantage in future exercises.
